Dollhouse Challenge: One Room Done-ish!

December 15th is here!  It's reveal day for all those participating in the Dollhouse Challenge.  If you read this post, you know that I was a bit sheepish about finishing an entire dollhouse by December 15th, and I'm here to tell you that Lucky and I didn't even get close to finishing the dollhouse.  We did (almost) finish one room, however, and here it is:

Lucky decided that she wanted to share a room with Charm in the dollhouse, and it's the first (and only) room we worked on.  She also decided she wanted a bunk bed in the room so we handed over a couple wooden plaques and dowels and asked Bill to make a bunk bed.

Isn't it cute?:)

For the room, we decided on a red, white, and blue color scheme with a touch of pink.  The curtain rod is a dowel with wooden chair caps as the finials.  We painted it blue.  We used a flannel fabric for the curtains and bedding. The corner table is just a little wooden box that was $1 at a craft store or a dollar store (I have no idea which one).  We painted it with a tic tac toe board on top.  The play table area still needs a couple floor pillows since I'm not sure about building scale appropriate chairs for the space.

The back wall has been 'wallpapered' using a sheet of scrapbook paper that was modge podged to a piece of foam core.  I'd like to wallpaper the bunk bed wall as well, but I only had one sheet of that blue paper, and I've yet to look for a matching sheet at Michael's.

You may notice that the red sunburst mirror bears a resemblance to our guest room mirror.  Lucky and I worked on our mirrors at the same time.  She handed me the sticks.  I did the hot glue gunning.

Finally, there are two rugs in the space.  One is a 'jute' (burlap) rug painted with hopscotch squares and the other is a faux sheepskin rug.

Still on the ol' to do list for this room:
-pillows for the beds
-floor pillows for the game area
-tic tac toe pieces
-wall paper for the side wall
-ladder for the bunk bed
-light fixture/s

And then there's the rest of the dollhouse to work on:

Lucky and I are really enjoying working on the space together.  We'll just continue to pace ourselves with the project and keep trucking along.  We'll probably be done December 15, 2012:)!
