Christmas Tablescape!

I've never made a formal tablescape before.  I just learned that tablescape is a word actually.  I made a centerpiece for Thanksgiving, but not an all out tablescape.  My Christmas tablescape experience was fun with Lucky by my side.  First, we looked through a few magazines and catalogs for ideas, ripping out pages (and coupons) as we went.  Next, Lucky helped me carry up lots of things from the basement decor nook so that I could try out different options.  While Bill is excited to get all this stuff off of our dining room table:), I just love looking at it!

It's a nature based tablescape with birds, antlers, sticks and pine cones.

At night, it makes the room feel so cozy!

I love these shipping tags that I picked up at Staples a while back.

I wrote out the names of our extended family members and added them to napkin rings and in the branch/vase piece on the table.  I think the branch/tag idea would be a great 'Thankful Tree' for Thanksgiving next year.  It would even be an interesting 'Family Tree' if you added birth dates and could figure out a way to dust it:)!

With most projects I try, there are usually a few things I would change if I were to do it again.  The first thing I would change in this tablescape is my table runner fabric.  I have a bunch of this chenille houndstooth fabric that I LOVE, but I have a few projects that I'll be using this fabric for and I'm not sure if I'd have enough left over to sew a table runner, so I used a smaller scale houndstooth instead.

See how the larger scale houndstooth looks better next to the woven place mat?

Also, I'd love some linen slipcovers for my Pier 1 Chairs for the sides of the table instead of the Lucky Shamrock Blue Chairs.  I'll be working on that sooner or later.

The kids are certainly enjoying the new view:)!

Linking up to The Lettered Cottage.
